The New Crop of iPod Wannabes |
There's a reason why a new crop of digital music players and services are hitting store shelves this holiday season, despite the dominant market position of Apple Computer's iPod. "Consumers are fickle," analyst Rob Enderle said. On Tuesday, Microsoft will test that fickleness when it launches Zune, a US$250 gadget with a 30 GB hard drive and a large screen for watching video. It's not the only test, either, as the list of iPod wannabes also includes new efforts from Cingular Wireless and electronics retailer Best Buy.
