Intuit's QuickBooks, Sage's PeachTree and Microsoft Account are perfect accounting software for small businesses. However, when you grow beyond their limits and need a more robust solution where do you turn?
Some limits could be user size. Maybe you have an accounting department of 10 or 20 and the accounting software you're using has a limit of 5. Maybe you are doing a larger number of transactions than when you first started out and find the software you're now using a bit slow. Maybe you are no longer a 10 person, 1 office company - but are now a 75 person, 4 office company with larger inventory. The accounting solution you started with - might not do the trick anymore.
Moving up to a higher version will give you more users and speed up transactions.
Earlier this week Sage launched Peachtree by Sage - Quantum 2009, which offers growing small businesses the simplicity of an integrated accounting solution, featuring better performance and capacity for up to 30 users.
"For small businesses that have outgrown their current systems, but aren't ready for a mid-market solution such as our sister product Sage MAS 90, the new Peachtree Quantum provides the right balance of serious accounting functionality, ease of use, and transaction capacity," said Connie Certusi, general manager of Sage Software small business accounting solutions.

Intuit users can upgrade to QuickBooks Enterprise and Microsoft Accounting can move up to Microsoft Dynamics.
