When I first started on line like most I had absolutely no understanding of how many social media sites there were out there. AND it is growing daily. With sites like Ning everyone can now create their own social media site, will it ever end?? As I learn more I continually hear people talking about the aggregation of their social media sites and have read a few blog posts on how to use them. Here is the wikipedia definition:
Social network aggregation is the process of collecting content from multiple social network services, such as MySpace or Facebook. The task is often performed by a social network aggregator, which pulls together information into a single location,[1] or helps a user consolidate multiple social networking profiles into one profile.[2] Various aggregation services provide tools or widgets to allow users to consolidate messages, track friends, combine bookmarks, search across multiple social networking sites, read RSS feeds for multiple social networks, see when their name is mentioned on various sites, access their profiles from a single interface, provide "lifestreams", etc.[2] Social network aggregation services attempt to organize or simplify a user's social networking experience,[3] although the idea has been satirized by the concept of a "social network aggregator aggregator."[4]

Social Media

With all of the technological breakthroughs in the world, many aspects of doing business have changed. Marketing is no different. Newspapers ads have become unprofitable and nearly obsolete, Magazines are passe. Even billboards have gone digital. So how is your business changing its marketing strategy?
Recent studies claim that the worldwide use of social media (such as Facebook and Twitter) has doubled. On average, users tend to spend more than 2 hours a day. Most people spend time in these popular media mainly for entertainment.
Online Social Networking is a way for friends and family to stay connected over the internet. Earlier, before the Internet became the all pervasive tool, people joined groups wherein the members were bound together by some common interest or characteristic. The idea was to physically meet other people like yourself and broaden your community. Now, the same principle works in the online model, except that it has become much faster and simpler. Now you join a social networking website and invite people you know – family, friends and colleague to join. New members who join, in turn, invite their family, friends and colleague to join, who in turn invite their family, friends and colleague to join, so on and so forth. This creates an extremely interconnected network and in a very short time you have created a community. In the community, you may not know everyone but a text or a link you post, may reach a stranger living 3000 miles away from you.
Facebook has grown from just a social network where old friends catch up with each other or just to play Farmville. Face has now become a major target for recruiters who tap into the endless supply of profiles to find individuals who fit the profile of individuals they want to employ.
